A PERSONAL REFLECTION BY VICTORIA
Still Coming Home to Myself
1. WHERE THE PATH BEGAN
My earliest spiritual experiences began in early childhood—through an intuitive connection with animals, birds, and the elements, and moments of claircognizance: an inner knowing that I couldn’t always explain. These were among my first experiences of what I would later come to understand as a deeper connection with the universe, long before I had the words to describe it. By my preteens, meditation had also become part of that exploration.
Alongside that connection, there was another part of my experience that was much harder to understand.
From my preteens into my late twenties, I spent much of my life in what I now recognize as deep and debilitating depression, though I was never evaluated professionally.
I learned how to look okay long before I actually felt okay. I kept that part of myself hidden. I built walls around myself, acted strong, tried to stay joyful, laughed my way through pain, and eventually shut down so much emotionally that I became numb.
I was surrounded by people, but I felt completely alone. Somewhere inside, I carried the feeling that I didn’t truly belong anywhere if I were to fully be myself.
I was existing more than I was truly living.
I was also living in survival mode from trauma I had experienced early in life — something that continued into my thirties, with parts of it lingering even beyond.
By my mid-twenties, after the depression kept resurfacing each time I thought I had finally moved beyond it, I knew I needed another way.
Learning to feel again became the beginning.
It brought both relief and overwhelm.
Through meditation, mindfulness, tears, presence, long periods of solitude and questioning, and a growing desire to understand myself more deeply, I began exploring my own path forward.
During one meditation, I had a vivid vision of myself healing with my hands.
I didn’t fully understand it at the time, but I felt compelled to follow it.
That search led me to Quantum-Touch and Reiki — the beginning of my energy healing path.
I felt inspired to keep learning, practicing and exploring, and these modalities became an important part of my life.
Early on, I didn’t have many people to practice on because in those days few people were aware of these modalities. This presented the opportunity for me to focus and go deeper within myself to fully understand how energy healing works and evolves over time if you allow it.
As I slowly learned to trust my intuition again and follow what felt like a deeper calling, my path continued to unfold piece by piece.
The puzzle began coming together.
New possibilities opened. I began understanding myself differently. I started recognizing patterns, gifts, and parts of myself I had once ignored, doubted or hidden.
And little by little, I began to understand not only my own path, but also the work I felt called to share with others.
Sometimes the path begins long before we understand where it is leading us.
2. WHEN REALITY OPENED
At another point in my journey, Peru changed something in me that is still difficult to fully put into words.
What I experienced there reshaped the way I understood reality, consciousness, healing, nature, spirit, and my own place within all of it.
There were moments when what I experienced felt more real to me than what we normally call reality.
It challenged many of the assumptions I had carried about what is possible, what is visible, and what exists beyond the limits of what we can easily explain or perceive.
I returned with a very different relationship to life.
Not because I suddenly had all the answers, but because I understood that reality may be far more layered, alive and interconnected than I had previously allowed myself to believe.
That experience deepened my connection to intuition, ceremony, the natural world, and the unseen aspects of healing.
More importantly, it brought me back into deeper connection with my own heart.
It reminded me that beneath the noise, conditioning, fear and expectations, there was a part of me that already knew what mattered.
A part of me that knew I was here for something.
Peru did not give me a neatly defined mission, but it brought me closer to the feeling of it. It reawakened a sense of purpose that had always been there somewhere beneath the surface and helped me trust that the path I was being drawn toward was not something I needed to explain before I was allowed to follow it.
In that sense, it became another kind of remembrance.
A remembering of my own heart.
A remembering of the path I felt called to walk.
And a deeper recognition that whatever I was here to share would have to come from that place.
In many ways, Peru never really ended for me.
The experience has continued to unfold over time.
Its meaning has changed as I have changed.
Things I understood one way then have taken on entirely different layers years later, and I still find myself revisiting what I experienced there from new levels of awareness.
Some journeys do not end when we come home.
They continue evolving with us.
3. GOING DEEPER
Over time, I began to realize that healing was not simply about feeling better, raising my vibration, moving beyond difficult experiences, or reaching for higher states.
At one point, I experienced what felt like profound elevation. Certain methods lifted me quickly and made me feel as though I had reached an entirely different state of being.
But the shift was more superficial and temporary than truly integrated.
When that state eventually collapsed, the crash was intense, and the downward spiral that followed became one of the hardest and darkest periods for me to climb out of.
That experience changed the way I understood healing.
It showed me that we can sometimes reach very high states without having addressed what is still quietly running underneath them.
It took me a long time to recognize just how deeply past trauma, conditioning, limiting beliefs and subconscious patterns continued to shape the undercurrents of my life — often in ways I wasn’t consciously aware of.
I could understand something intellectually and still find myself repeating the same patterns.
I could believe I had moved beyond an experience and later discover that some part of me was still responding from the wound.
Certain fears, choices, relationships, triggers and ways of seeing myself seemed to have roots much deeper than what was visible on the surface.
That realization took me further inward.
I became increasingly drawn to shadow work, the subconscious mind, limiting beliefs, inner-child work, self-love, emotional patterns, and the parts of ourselves we learn to suppress, reject or hide in order to survive, belong or feel safe.
I also began exploring the subconscious more directly, including through hypnosis sessions, which deepened my understanding of how much of our inner world can operate beneath conscious awareness.
I’ve also come to believe that some of what we carry may reach beyond our own lived experiences, including ancestral patterns and unresolved trauma passed through generations.
There were also periods of my life that I came to understand as my own dark nights of the soul — times when old identities, beliefs and structures seemed to fall away faster than I could understand what was replacing them.
As painful and disorienting as some of those periods were, they forced me to look beneath the surface.
They taught me that transformation isn’t always about becoming something new.
Sometimes it is about uncovering what has been there all along.
Sometimes it is about remembering.
And sometimes it requires us to meet the parts of ourselves we would much rather leave in the dark.
We cannot heal what we are unwilling to see.
4. THE MESSINESS OF BECOMING
What I share in this space reflects my beliefs, my vision, and what I have understood to be true throughout my own life.
I share that vision because it is what I am creating from the depths of my heart.
That does not mean I have already arrived there.
I do not have it all figured out. I am not yet where I envision myself. I overcome my own challenges daily, and I have thought about giving up on my calling many times.
But the flame in my heart knows that the story is far from over.
My job is to trust what I know deep within, even when there is no external proof.
I am not here to escape my life, pretend everything is okay, or dwell endlessly in the shadows.
I am here to acknowledge it all — to integrate all parts of myself, to remember who I am beneath everything I have learned to be, and to walk my truest path in alignment with who I really am.
I believe deeply in my vision, but I also believe in the darkness and messiness of getting there.
This path is not about shortcuts, perfection, or some race to the finish line.
There is no place for spiritual bypassing in this journey if we want real transformation.
We cannot keep reaching for the light while refusing to look into the darkness.
Transformation can be beautiful.
But it can also be deeply uncomfortable, dark and lonely, with some of the wildest twists and turns along the way — experiences that can test the limits of even the strongest souls.
We cannot simply rush through painful experiences and emotions because we want to get to the other side.
I don’t pretend to be some enlightened being who has mastered every lesson.
I have walked through fire many times — literally and figuratively — and I continue to do so because the version of me that emerges on the other side tends to feel more alive, more real, more present, more connected and more aligned with my truth.
Perhaps that is part of the alchemy of it all.
The fire doesn’t simply burn — it transforms.
I have learned to sit with my emotions — discomfort, pain, grief, anger, depression, anxiety, apathy, triggers and patterns — without judgment, so I can understand what they are showing me, what is being asked of me, and, most importantly, how to stop repeating the same loops.
I have learned to let go, release and forgive what has been weighing me down.
I have learned to accept parts of myself, my experiences and decisions from my past as I began to see them from a different angle.
I’ve spent many moments holding myself and my inner child when there was no one there to hold me in the ways I wish I could have been held.
I am still reparenting parts of myself so I can show up for my child in ways I once needed someone to show up for me.
I’ve learned to move through the shadows rather than allowing them to consume me.
I have filled — and continue to fill — the voids where I once thought I needed rescuing.
I have become abnormally brilliant at hiding and making myself invisible out of fear of being seen.
And I have also learned the repercussions of shrinking, denying and abandoning the parts of myself that not only make me unique, but hold the very gifts I am meant to share with this world.
I have walked the path of the lone wolf so I could get to know my own depths, remember who I am beneath the expectations and conditioning, and learn to show up as I am meant to — rather than as others want me to be.
I have worked through the temptation to blend in out of fear of being judged or rejected.
And I am learning that authenticity is not what separates us from the people meant for us — it is what allows them to find us.
We are not here to shrink ourselves, play small, or abandon pieces of who we are in order to belong.
The more fully we become ourselves, the more naturally we find the people with whom we truly belong.
But I am still learning.
Still walking this path.
Still remembering.
Still coming home to myself.
Still unbecoming.
Still creating from a place of my own light and genius.
5. WHAT I BELIEVE
I believe we each carry our own unique light and genius.
I believe part of this life is about discovering it, remembering it, and learning to live from it.
I believe it is through reconnecting with this truth and the wisdom already within us that we begin to experience real joy, abundance and a deeply meaningful life.
I believe real healing makes room for both the human and the spiritual — the light and the shadow, the wisdom and the wounds, the beauty and the mess.
I don’t believe in predetermined, fixed or cookie-cutter paths or solutions.
I don’t believe we are here to mimic someone else’s journey.
Each person’s path is their own.
And if I can inspire or help others reunite with their own highest and most aligned path, perhaps they can shine their own light a little brighter too.
The more of us who do that, the more light we bring into this world together.
Because while some parts of the journey may require us to walk alone, I don’t believe we are meant to do it alone forever.
This work is neither about escaping the human experience, nor is it about denying the spiritual one.
It is about making room for both.
I believe this world would be a very different place if we each awakened to our individual light, truth, heart and wisdom — and then came together to co-create from that space as a whole.
THE INVITATION
And perhaps some part of you already knows this too.
Maybe that is why you are here.
Maybe you can feel the quiet pull toward something more — not necessarily more out there, but more of who you already are beneath everything you have learned to be.
The part of you that remembers.
The part that knows when something is no longer aligned.
The part that keeps calling you back to your own truth, your own path, your own light and genius — even when you don’t yet know what following it will ask of you.
Do you hear the call?
